Sent by: Rachel Kull

Ingredients

4 cups flour
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 Tablespoon instant yeast*
1 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon oil
1 1/2 cups hot tap water

Method

Place dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir together. Make a well in the middle of the mixture and add the oil. Add the hot water and stir all together.

Let dough rest for 10 minutes and stir again. Repeat this procedure five times.

Then place dough onto a floured surface and cut into however many loaves you want to make and let rest again for 10 minutes.

If you are making loaves of bread, roll into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick and roll up like a jelly roll, pinching the seam shut and tucking the ends under. Let rise until double and bake in hot over 375 degrees F. until done.

If you’re making pizzas, roll the dough out to the shape/size you want and decorate with pizza toppings. Of course, the thicker the dough, the softer crust pizza you will have.

*If you don’t have instant dry yeast, dissolve the yeast in 1/2 cup of warm water and decrease amount of water added to flour mixture to 1 cup.

This French bread recipe makes great pizza dough too! It’s a yeast recipe, but easy enough for anyone to make successfully.
