Happy New Year! Praise God for bringing us through 2001. It was a year with lots of challenges, but God was good! We look forward to what He has planned for us and trust His grace to meet the challenges of 2002.

It’s February, Valentine’s Day is around the corner. So this is a good time to think about ways to strengthen our marriage relationship. We are going to share some insights from Marriage Works! Seeds for growing a great marriage by Mike Constantine. In Marriage Works!, Mike describes the doldrums marriage can slip into.

Are you looking forward to furlough or dreading it? Probably it is a mixture of both those feelings. Since many PWs go on furlough during the summer, December seemed a good time to talk about furlough planning.
Your husband has probably already been emailing contacts to plan the itinerary. Email has made that process so much faster and easier.
Since thanksgiving should be a part of our lives all the time and not just on Thanksgiving Day, we wanted to share about our ordinary bread.
As the Children of Israel followed the Pillar of Cloud and the Pillar of Fire around a desert, they began to worry about what they would eat. You cannot grow rice in a desert and wheat doesn’t ripen overnight. What were they going to do?
God had the perfect answer. He would send them “heavenly bread” as long as they remained in the wilderness. Now God knew their hearts and also knew what He intended to accomplish in them while they were in the wilderness. That’s why He told Moses in Ex. 16:4 that he would “. . . rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.”

I am originally from Holland. For the last 12 1/2 years I have been working in Bolivia, with addicted men, prisoners, streetgangs, and founding and directing of a house for addicted teenagers and will open a house for addicted girls – all run with wonderful national staff.
My walk with the Lord began when, at the age of 22 years, I received Jesus as my Savior in ’78. I was a hurt and broken person who needed the Lord to sort out many things. In those early days I remember once disputing with the Lord about being alone. I asked Him, “But Lord, what if it’s a nice Christian man?” The Lord asked me in return, “And what if I’d rather have you alone?” You might imagine I cried, but in the end told the Lord that I was prepared to accept His preference if He insisted.
