The Gift Exchange

by Mike Constantine

Christmas season is a time we set aside for giving and receiving gifts in celebration of the greatest gift ever given, the Lord Jesus. But it would be a sad thing to give a costly gift and then find out that it was never used or enjoyed.

Imagine your own personal gift exchange with Jesus. Think about Jesus sitting down with you to exchange gifts. Think what it would be like for Him to give you precious things and how you would feel after you had received them. Since we can’t receive anything from Him until we first give Him something, let’s begin our imaginary scene with you giving a gift to Jesus.

Hoaxes and Viruses

This week’s Peter’s Wife is going to be a bit different. Many of you are fairly new to the Internet and I have come across some interesting and helpful information for you.

Helping Kids Adjust

Today I’d like to do something a little different. Our topic is helping children adapt to another culture. A few years ago I wrote this children’s story to illustrate the importance of preparing our children for change. For those of you without children, I hope you will be blessed as you take a few minutes to read a children’s story. [Read more…]

Depression

Most of us will experience depression sometime in our lives, but some will experience a deep depression. Being outside our home culture can delay recognizing what is wrong or make getting help difficult. Margaret got us thinking about depression as a topic for Peter’s Wife when she sent an article by Dick Innes called Overcoming Depression.

Depression can be an occupational hazard for PWs. We live outside our home culture without many of the support systems the average woman has. Lacking the feedback of friends and family we can turn a molehill into a mountain or slowly, inch-by-inch, slip into a deep depression.
